Better Schools for Kids
Our aging school buildings present significant challenges. They are expensive to maintain, and these buildings – many of which were designed several decades ago – simply cannot provide the 21st century education our students need.

The April 3 bond proposal for St. Joseph Schools will fund construction of a new elementary school in the Midtown area. It will air condition other District elementary schools, providing a better learning environment. It will also provide better safety and security for students.

These improvements are the first step in a set of recommendations made by the community through the PACT (Planning a Course Together) community engagement process. Hundreds of volunteers from across St. Joseph spent more than a year working together to study the challenges our District faces and recommend a solution. This bond proposal will begin putting these recommendations into action.

More Jobs for Our Community
The state of the economy has been especially hard on many people in St. Joseph. Pointing our community in the right direction starts with jobs. The bond proposal will fund construction and renovation projects that will put people to work in our community. Better schools will also mean higher property values and a more attractive community for businesses and families.

Not a Tax Rate Increase
If the bond proposal passes, the District’s tax rate will NOT increase. Instead, the District will restructure its bond payment schedule, which will keep the tax rate at its current rate.

What is the April 3 bond proposal for St. Joseph Schools?

The proposal is a $42 million school improvement bond proposal, which will not increase the District’s tax rate. If passed, this proposal will:

  • Begin implementation of recommendations made by the community through PACT (Planning a Course Together), a community engagement effort that involved hundreds of St. Joseph residents
  • Build a new elementary school in the Midtown area
  • Air condition other District elementary schools, providing a better learning environment, as well as greater safety and security for students.

We urge you to join us in voting YES on April 3.
Please remind your friends and family to do the same!
